The brothers Eduardo (1903-1982) and Regino (1896-1981) Sainz de la Maza are certainly the greatest exponents of the Spanish guitar in the 20th century. Born in Burgo they studied with masters like Daniel Fortea and Eugenio Rodríguez Pascual. Regino, the most extravert of the two, developed a highly successful career as a performer, he made international tours to several continents and was in close contact with celebrities like Miguel Llobet, Andrés Segovia and Salvador Dalí. He was the dedicatee and gave the world premiere of Rodrigo’s famous Concierto de Aranjuez.
Eduardo Sainz de la Maza dedicated his life to teaching and composing for the guitar. His style is in the Spanish Folklore tradition, but with influences of Jazz and Impressionism.
This 2-CD set presents the complete guitar works by the two brothers Sainz de la Maza, played with dedication and a true feeling for the style by the Italian guitarist Salvatore Fortunato, a winner of several international guitar competitions, who recently made a successful recording for Brilliant Classics of guitar music by Dilermando Reis.
