Rare combination: Serenades for flute, violin and violaAs the serenade increasingly mutated from outdoor music into an entertaining work for the concert hall, the instrumentation also changed. Numerous wind and string serenades were written, including some for mixed ensembles, while the small instrumentation became a rare exception. The multi-award-winning Italian flutist Andrea Oliva has recorded three rare examples of intimate serenades for flute, violin and viola by Beethoven and Reger with his musical comrades-in-arms Carlo Parazzoli and Luca Sanzò, with a great sense for the quiet, subtle poetry of the works.
