The harpsichord, which was originally located in the Baroque period, experienced a new heyday in the first three decades of the 20th century and inspired the compositions of the time: Justin Taylor has created the program of his new album around four important 20th century concertos (Falla, Poulenc, Françaix, Górecki), which are linked by pieces for solo harpsichord: Bartók, who in his preface to Mikrokosmos - from which this Hommage à Bach is taken - suggests playing certain pieces on the harpsichord, Martinů and a new work by Stéphane Gassot as a reference to Ligeti. The album ends with a tribute to Scott Joplin and his famous ragtimes. Justin Taylor, who always shows great attention and passion for the instruments, has recorded the entire program on a single instrument. He chose a harpsichord built in the 1970s by Anthony Sidey, which is a hybrid model between the Pleyel instruments and the historical harpsichord and "offers a wide and highly variable color palette". With this album, he follows in the footsteps of Wanda Landowska and Elisabeth Chojnacka, who have promoted the harpsichord in all its modernity.
