Williams was the most important guitarist of the generation after Segovia. In 1958, at the age of 18, he recorded the first in a long series of LPs that followed in quick succession, establishing and consolidating his international reputation. The extraordinary maturity of the young artist is immediately evident in the opening Preludio from Bach's Suite BWV 1007. Clearly also his will to set himself apart from Segovia and to set his own artistic standards.
