Lina Tur Bonet, concertmaster of Jordi Savall's Le Concert des Nations, is known for her curiosity for rare or long-lost scores. This new recording is dedicated to the parallel paths of the Mendelssohn siblings. On the one hand, there is Felix Mendelssohn, the celebrated child prodigy who composed his Violin Concerto in D minor at the age of 13. Lina Tur Bonet has unearthed the original version of the work and presents it here in a premiere recording alongside the final version. On the other side is Fanny Mendelssohn, who was restricted by her time and was one of the first women to compose a string quartet, which Tur Bonet vividly captures in a string orchestra version with her ten-piece ensemble.
