This studio production from 1978 is the only part on DVD-Video of the 1960s Ring production created in cooperation between the Salzburg Festival and the MET. Based on the Salzburg Festival production, Georges Wakhevitch created the sets for this production. With Thomas Stewart as Wotan and Brigitte Fassbaender as Fricka, Karajan succeeded in casting a cast that makes this production an outstanding Wagner experience.
