Bartolomeo Campagnoli (1751-1827) was a violinist by training, whoworked in the courts and capitals ofBaroque-era Europe, with posts inRome, Dresden and then (from 1779to 1818) in Leipzig, where he wasleader of the venerable Gewandhausorchestra. He learned his tradewith famous Italian musicians Tartini(1692-1770) and Nardini (1722-1793).Campagnoli claimed for himself“the German learnedness withItalian soul”, and his works aboundin lyrical melodies set into the firmmusical structures of the firstViennese School.This 3-CD presents String Quartets,Flute Quartets and Duos for Flute& Violin, highly attractive works inprevailing light and lyrical mood.Performed in HistoricallyInformed Performance Practice,by the Ensemble Symposium,the Ensemble Il Demetrio andStefano Parrino (flute) andFrancesco Parrino (violin).
