Toshio Hosokawa is Japan's leading living composer. Part four of the series with his orchestral works (the composer was always present during the recordings) contains two concertos and two orchestral pieces. The trumpet concerto "Im Nebel" was inspired by a poem by Hermann Hesse and evokes a magical fusion of man and nature. The violin concerto "Genesis" places the soloist as the human protagonist in a universal drama in search of harmony. "Sakura" (Cherry Blossom) is one of the most popular Japanese songs that Hosokawa arranged for orchestra. "Uzu" is orchestral melodiousness.
