Weber's first romantic heroine was undoubtedly the clarinet. Ten years before Max and the "Freischütz", Weber composed his two clarinet concertos and began the quintet. He dedicated these three masterpieces to the virtuoso Baermann, who significantly revised the clarinet part of the concertos in his edition, which is now available to posterity. For his debut, clarinettist Arthur Stockel takes on the original scores. The solo part is somewhat simpler and emphasizes the connection between the pieces and the composer's dramatic imagination. Based on songs and operas, Stockel explores their connection to song.
