Already favourably noticed for his appearances in partnership with Chiara Banchini and Jesper Christensen (Bonporti, Geminiani), and a representative of the new generation of Italian interpreters of Corelli alongside Guido Balestracci and Enrico Gatt, Gaetano Nasillo here presents a Neopolitain composer-performer, one of the finest ambassadors of the eighteenth-century cello school, none of whose works is at present available on CD: Salvatore Lanzetti.
These Sonatas op.1 call for new instrumental techniques, notably the use of the thumb as a mobile saddle in the positions above the top-block which joins the instrument's neck to its body.
Gaetano Nasillo will continue to record for Zig-Zag Territories with a CD of Neapolitain concertos by Leo, Porpora, Vinci and Fiorentina, accompanied by Ensemble 415. This is scheduled for release in the spring of 2005.
