One of Henryk Mikolaj Gorecki's best-known and most moving works has now been released in a remarkable new recording. In June of this year, the National Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Krzysztof Urbanski recorded the Symphony No. 3 "Symphony of Lamentations" together with three soloists - Michal Slawecki (countertenor), Edyta Krzemien (soprano) and Anna Federowicz (soprano). The album "Gorecki 3" was released on both vinyl (LP) and CD and marks a significant event in the music and recording scene.
Krzysztof Urbanski's interpretation brings a new perspective to this three-movement masterpiece for soprano solo and orchestra: "Three songs. Three women. Three voices. (...) To emphasize the authenticity of each story, I took an unconventional step: Instead of entrusting all three movements to a single soprano, I invited three different singers. (...) Their presence allows each movement of the symphony to speak as an independent human voice - profound and sincere. Conducting this work is an experience like no other (...) something greater, something mystical," confesses the maestro.
