Joanna Kacperek's new album for Rubicon is a superbly put together recital of works by women composers - all of whom were famous in their day, but in most cases quickly disappeared from the repertoire after their deaths. There is no logical reason for this oblivion. The music is first-rate, they enjoyed the support of their great male contemporaries, including luminaries such as Haydn, Hummel, Moscheles, Liszt, Franck and Grieg. For many listeners, this recording will be a fascinating journey of musical discovery.
