For many decades, students of Domenico Scarlatti have been discussing the relationship between most of Scarlatti's sonatas and flamenco dance. Silvia Rambaldi and Andreina di Girolamo deserve praise for presenting a practical demonstration that goes beyond words and combines dance and harpsichord playing, with the help of the dancer Rita Marchesini, who is adept at both baroque and flamenco dance. And since certain sonatas very often alternate between the Andalusian and Italian styles, the dancer shows with her performance that it is possible to "play" with both styles appropriately. This interesting production on the harpsichord sonatas "encoded" by Domenico Scarlatti is accompanied by a DVD containing the video of the sonatas for two harpsichords filmed in the performance "La festa dorata dell'anima", in which Rita Marchesini (historical dance and flamenco) and Alberto Rodriguez (Andalusian guitarist), together with the harpsichordists Andreina di Girolamo and Silvia Rambaldi, demonstrate the influence of Italian and Spanish dance on the works of the great composer "on the spot". The comments in the interview with the late Emilia Fadini are also of great interest.
