Friederike Chylek
The work of William Byrd is characterized above all by the diversity of genres and structural principles. This is particularly evident in his unique piano music. The influence Byrd also had on the continental development of piano music remains remarkable. To mark the four hundredth anniversary of William Byrd's death, this album presents a special collection of works by Byrd as well as two of his close contemporaries, his longtime mentor Thomas Tallis (1505-1585) and the younger Orlando Gibbons (1583-1625).With William Byrd, Friederike Chylek follows up her recent albums Byrd - Keyboard works (jpc 10776416), From Byrd To Byrd (jpc 8809431) and Time stands still (jpc 5683528). Friederike Chylek plays on an organ by Johann Christoph Leu, Klosterkirche Rheinau, 1715 and on a harpsichord by Boccalari, Napoli 1699, restored by MatthiasGriewisch, 2019.
