Adriano Falcioni / Vegezzi-Bossi-Orgel Chiesa del Sacro Cuore di Gesu in Cuneo
The 8 Organ Sonatas by Alexander Guilmant (1837-1911) count among the highlights of French romantic organ literature. Inspired by the great organ works of Cesar Franck the sonatas are impressive and substantial concert pieces, written in classical sonata style, but symphonic in scope and expression, in the spirit of Bruckner and Mahler, while in the harmonic language the influence of Wagner is never far away.
Italian master organist Adriano Falcioni already gained international praise for his recording of the Franck organ works (BC94349). On this recording he plays a magnificent Vegezzi-Bossi organ of 1897, perfectly suited to the requirements of these late romantic organ masterpieces.
