Hans Neusidler (1508-56) is one of the principal figures of German lute music of the 16th century.
He demonstrated his talent for teaching when he published his first book ‘Ein newgeordent kunstlich Lautenbuch’ (A newly ordered artistic method for the lute) which is the piece presented on this CD.
Master Lutenist Bart Roose is one of the world’s great musicians, specialising in this repertoire. He plays on a 6-course lute which is a modern copy of an instrument housed in the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna, dating from 1520.
