With the percussionist and marimba player Vassilena Serafimova and the Quatuor Ardeo, two worlds meet, giving rise to new repertoires as well as moods and sensations, some of which are recreated through original arrangements. It is in fact a delicate balance between the marimba paired with the vibraphone and the strings: the former, a pulsating and silky instrument, carries a more pronounced rhythmic dimension and sometimes takes on a concertante role; the latter offers a warm lyricism and a texture that is sometimes dense, sometimes transparent, but always supple. A fine balance and a tribute to the works without diminishing their original artistic power. As the pieces and arrangements unfold, a journey takes shape, like a travel diary in which ancient traditions meet fresh inspiration. "Melodies in a Bottle" is less a concert program than a journey through maritime and urban horizons, through real and imaginary landscapes, through music whose history is rewritten with every note. A place of encounter where curiosity becomes the most beautiful of all driving forces.
