Jean-Jacques Bedikian
As a child, Jean-Jacques Bedikian listened to the house concerts that his father organized with friends and relatives. Soon he developed a desire to take up the keys himself. When he was introduced to his first teacher, he unabashedly played the main theme from Nino Rota's Godfather and Shostakovich's waltz from Jazz Suite No. 2 - purely by ear. She immediately took him on as a student and prepared him for the entrance exam at the Marseille Conservatory. On his debut album, he presents his interpretation of Rachmaninoff's Études-Tableaux, which have preoccupied him since he first encountered them at a competition as a thirteen-year-old.
