Although Berman was not necessarily a Beethoven specialist, he often played Beethoven sonatas in his concerts (at least half a dozen of them). And his fiery interpretations of these works, in which he pushed the piano to its limits in terms of sound volume and timbre, regularly caused audiences to erupt in storms of enthusiasm. Here we hear recordings made between 1972 and 1984.
