During a collaboration in New York in the 1970s, Keith Jarrett asked the conductor and pianist Dennis Russell Davies to play his composition "Rituals". The recording was released on Jarrett's ECM label in 1982. Russell Davies wrote at the time: "Those who know Keith (Jarrett) will hear him in this music. It could not have been written by anyone else." Now the pianist François Mardirossian has re-recorded the 30-minute composition in one movement. Keith Jarrett celebrates his 80th birthday in May 2025.
