The best album of LOUIS ARMSTRONG in the fifties was without question "Plays W. C. Handy" from 1954. The relaxed, atmosphere permeates an album full of light-footed trumpet solos, stormy Trumpet solos, stormy rhythms and the typical Armstrong Growl of Armstrong.

William Christopher Handy is considered the important role in the development of modern music as "Father of the Blues" because of his important role in the development of modern music new genre in the Roaring Twenties. ARMSTRONG and his All-Stars (trombonist Trummy Young, clarinetist Barney Bigard, pianist Billy Kyle, bassist Arvell Shaw, drummer Barrett Deems and singer Velma Middleton) were clearly inspired by his fresh, bluesy repertoire.
