From 1904 until his death in 1918, Claude Debussy owned a Blüthner grand piano, which the pianist François Dumont discovered by chance in a museum during a concert tour in the south-west of France. When he finally received permission to play it, it was a special experience for him. On the one hand, he was approaching a distant world of sound, and on the other, he felt that he was holding a lively, pulsating instrument in his hands, certainly capricious, but always warm and rich in color, which could only be played with artistic risk. In this recording with this grand piano, the pianist proves himself to be a master of color, worthy of the founder of musical impressionism.
