Jordi Savall and his ensembles Le Concert des Nations and La Capella Reial de Catalunya dedicate themselves to the Christmas work of the great French Baroque composer Marc-Antoine Charpentier. The wonderful Pastorale sur la naissance de Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ combines sacred choral music with the secular Pastorale. The Messe de Minuit, in the style of the parody mass often used since the Renaissance, uses ten old French Christmas carols with exuberant cheerfulness. Three carols from the Noëls sur les instruments complete the atmospheric program.
