Born in Berlin, Gunther Raphael remained there to study and became an extraordinarily multitalented and prolific composer. He left behind numerous symphonic works, solo concertos, oratorios, along with sacred and secular choral works plus a particularly broad selection of chamber works. The works on this disc are dated between 1937 to 1958.
