Franz Liszt's two piano concertos and the 12 Transcendental Studies have long proved a challenge for all great piano virtuosos. Turin-born Alessandro Ambrosoli studied with Lazar Berman and delivers these demanding pieces with brilliant virtuosity, proving himself the equal of many renowned soloists from the past. He performs on this recording with the St. Petersburg Northern Sinfonia Orchestra, conducted by Fabio Mastrangelo, another up-and-coming artist.
