Trio Élégiaque: François Dumont (piano), Laurent Le Flécher (violin) & Virginie Constant (cello)
- Reber, N H: Piano Trio No. 3 in G minor, Op. 16
- Reber, N H: Piano Trio No. 5 in C major, Op. 30
- Reber, N H: Piano Trio No. 7 in A minor, Op. 37
Recordings featuring Reber are few and far between: one recent recording of the four symphonies, and a long time ago three trios for piano, violin and cello.
These trios have everything going for them. They are works of constant inspiration, howing a ‘French’ romanticism on the lines of Onslow, though with its roots also in Schumann and even Brahms. Impeccably written, like the music of his French contemporary Lalo.
The Trio Élégiaque has been a sensation over the past few years. After a disc of contemporary music (Dusapin) it has conquered audiences with another of Russian music. Its complete Beethoven Trios is soon to be released.
