Maurice Ravel was an alchemist of sound who transformed his own piano works into orchestral versions, which soon brought them worldwide recognition. Jean-François Heisser is artistically in the same line as Ravel. He is a pupil of Vlado Perlemuter, who in turn was a close artistic confidant of Ravel in his younger years. The Piano Concerto in G major, in which Heisser conducts the Orchestre de Chambre Nouvelle-Aquitaine from the piano, revives the Mozart tradition that was so dear to the composer's heart.
