In 1725, Jose de Torres created the musical setting for the royal funeral service of Spain's first Bourbon monarch. This "Misa de difuntos para Luis I" is at the center of this album, which brings together the richness of Spanish tradition and the elegance of French taste. With exquisite finesse, it combines the sound world of Versailles with the opulent splendor of the Spanish Baroque. The mass is complemented by the monumental "Dies Irae" by Francisco Corselli, a Franco-Italian composer, composed in honor of Philip V. Alberto Miguelez Rouco brings these rare works back to life and revives the music of the Real Capilla de Madrid in the Royal Chapel of Versailles.
