Choeur de chambre Mélisme(s), Colette Diard, BanKal Trio
The inspiration that Johannes Brahms drew from the folklore of the Hungarian Roma was popularly reflected in his Hungarian Dances, but extended far beyond that. Choirmaster Gildas Pungier and his Chœur de chambre Mélisme(s) enter into a musical dialog with the BanKal Trio (clarinet, double bass, accordion). The composer's choral works from the German folk songs, the gypsy songs and the love song waltzes are juxtaposed with traditional Roma folk tunes.
